Buying Windows 8 keys

Looking for a Windows 8 product key that actually works? HypestKey has been selling genuine Microsoft licenses since 2020, and we keep two Pro editions ready to go: Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8.1 Pro. Your product key comes with instant delivery to your email the moment checkout is complete.
Every license we sell activates directly through Microsoft’s servers. No unofficial activators, no endless back and forth with support. You enter the key in Windows and you are done. If a key ever gives you trouble, our replacement guarantee covers it.
Windows 8 keys available now
Two editions are in stock. Choose the one that fits your machine:

Windows 8.1 Pro: the complete package for serious users and the edition most people want. BitLocker encrypts your drive, so your data stays protected even if someone takes the laptop. Remote Desktop lets you connect to the machine from another computer. You also get Group Policy for managing settings across devices, domain join for corporate networks and Hyper-V for running virtual machines on the same hardware. The right choice for business setups and for power users who want every feature Microsoft built into Windows 8.1.
Windows 8 Pro: the original 2012 release with all Pro features in place. It has the first version of the tile-based Start screen, which some people still prefer to the changes in 8.1. A sensible pick for legacy software that was certified for Windows 8, for restoring an older system to its original state, or simply if you like that design better.

Windows 8.1 also had a basic edition, often called Windows 8.1 or “Standard”, for home use without the business tools. We do not sell that edition, but the table below shows what it lacks so you can see what Pro adds.
Windows 8 product keys work in any country. Since delivery is digital, we can serve customers anywhere in the world.
Support status
Before you buy, know where these versions stand with Microsoft:

Windows 8: support ended on January 12, 2016.
Windows 8.1: mainstream support ended on January 9, 2018, and extended support ended on January 10, 2023. Microsoft did not offer an Extended Security Updates program for Windows 8.1.

Both systems still install, activate and run, but they receive no new security patches. Use them for a specific purpose, such as legacy software, offline machines or old hardware drivers, and keep them away from sensitive work on the open internet. For a supported system, look at Windows 11 or Windows 10 keys.

Start screen and desktopYesYes

The basic edition covers what most home users do day to day. Pro adds the security and management features that businesses need for compliance and administrative control. Both received the same updates from Microsoft while support lasted.
Already running the basic edition of Windows 8.1? You can move to Pro without reinstalling or losing files. Open Control Panel, search for “Add features to Windows 8.1”, choose “I already have a product key” and enter your Windows 8.1 Pro key. The PC restarts as Pro, and your apps and documents stay exactly where they were.
How delivery works
A simple four-step process:

Choose: pick your edition and click Add to cart.
Pay: enter your email address, choose a payment method and confirm the order.
Receive: your key appears on screen and arrives in your inbox with instant delivery to your email. Keep that email, it is your proof of purchase.
Activate: open Control Panel > System and Security > System and click “Change product key” (or “Activate Windows”). Type the 25-character key. Windows contacts Microsoft and validates it within moments.

If you prefer the command line, open Command Prompt as administrator and run slmgr /ipk followed by your key, then slmgr /ato to activate.
Setting up a fresh build or a new computer? Use genuine installation media for the edition you bought, on a disc or a bootable USB drive. A Windows 8.1 Pro key goes with Windows 8.1 media, and a Windows 8 Pro key goes with Windows 8 media. If you do not have the right installation files, contact support and we will point you to them.
Orders for several PCs
Need Windows 8.1 Pro on several machines, for example to keep a set of legacy workstations running? Add the quantity you need to the cart, and all the keys arrive together in one order email. For larger quantities or a quote, write to support@hypestkey.com.
Remember that each key activates one computer. There is no single master key for a fleet of machines: every PC needs its own license under Microsoft’s terms. Keep the order email, since it lists every key you bought in one place for your records.
Guarantees included
Every order comes with real protection:

Genuine Microsoft product: each license comes from official Microsoft channels and validates directly through Microsoft’s servers.
Lasting activation: the key stays valid for the life of the license. If it stops working, or a hardware change causes activation trouble, contact us and we fix it or send a new key.
Activation help: stuck at some point during activation? Our team walks you through it by live chat or email, every day.

Payment methods
Checkout runs through Stripe and accepts:

Visa, MasterCard and other major cards
Apple Pay and Google Pay on mobile

All payments are protected with SSL encryption. We never store full card numbers on our systems, and there are no extra fees at checkout.
Common questions
Does it work on a brand new PC build?
Yes, as long as the hardware has Windows 8.1 drivers. Create a bootable USB drive from genuine installation media, install Windows 8.1 from scratch on the new hardware and enter your product key when setup asks for it. Windows activates once it is connected to the internet. Very new chipsets may lack Windows 8.1 drivers, so check with the motherboard maker first.
What happens if I change hardware later?
Small changes like adding RAM or swapping a drive do not affect activation. Replacing the motherboard can trigger a reactivation. If the automatic process fails, contact our support team and we will help, or send a replacement key if needed.
Does Microsoft still release updates?
No. Extended support for Windows 8.1 ended on January 10, 2023, and Windows 8 ended on January 12, 2016. The system keeps working, but no new patches come out. If current security matters for what you do, choose a newer version.
Can I use this key to get Windows 10 or Windows 11?
Do not count on it. Microsoft’s upgrade offer from Windows 7 and 8.1 ended years ago, and in 2023 Microsoft confirmed that installing Windows 10 or 11 with older Windows keys is no longer a supported path. If you want a newer system, buy a Windows 10 or Windows 11 key made for it.
