Click Speed Test: Measure Your CPS
What is CPS Test?
CPS stands for clicks per second. You click as fast as you can and the test counts how many times you clicked. Then it divides by the number of seconds. That gives you your CPS score.
People who play Minecraft PvP care about this a lot. Same with anyone into competitive gaming or idle clicker games. It is a quick way to see where you stand.
How to Use Click Speed Test
Pick how long you want the test to run. Hit the green box and start clicking. When time runs out you get your score.
Five seconds works best for most people. One second is too short and your score jumps around. Anything over 30 seconds and your hand gets tired, which brings the number down.
CPS Rank System
After each test you get a rank based on your speed:
- Turtle (0-2 CPS) – pretty slow
- Slow (3-4 CPS) – below what most people get
- Average (5-6 CPS) – right in the middle
- Fast (7-8 CPS) – better than average
- Pro (9-10 CPS) – gamer territory
- Master (11-12 CPS) – top 10%
- God Like (13+ CPS) – crazy fast
Clicking Techniques
Normal clicking gets you about 6 to 8 CPS max. To go higher you need to learn a technique.
Butterfly clicking is when you alternate between your index and middle finger really fast. Some people get 15 to 25 CPS with this.
Jitter clicking means you tense up your arm so it shakes a little. That vibration makes your finger click faster. You can hit 10 to 14 CPS once you get the hang of it.
Drag clicking is where you drag your finger across the mouse button. The friction registers a bunch of clicks at once. Works better on some mice than others.
CPS in Minecraft PvP
Everyone in Minecraft PvP talks about CPS but honestly the game caps hit registration at like 2 to 4 per second. So clicking at 15 CPS does not mean you hit 15 times.
That said, faster clicking does help with combos and keeping people in knockback. People warming up on Hypixel or practice servers usually aim for 8+ CPS. Going way higher than 12 does not really give you much extra.
World Record
The record is held by Dylan Allred from Las Vegas. He hit 1,051 clicks in 10 seconds which comes out to 105.1 CPS. RecordSetter has it on file. Before him it was Tom Andre Seppola from Norway with 830 clicks in 30 seconds.
Tips to Click Faster
Just click around for a bit each day. Does not have to be long. Your hand will figure it out. A decent gaming mouse makes a difference since the buttons are easier to press.
Do not death grip the mouse. Relax your hand. And if it starts hurting just stop. Not worth messing up your hand over a click test.
FAQ
What is a good CPS score?
Somewhere around 6 to 8 CPS is normal. If you game a lot you might hit 8 to 12. Above 12 means you know what you are doing or you learned a clicking technique.
What is the world record for CPS?
Dylan Allred holds the verified record at 105.1 CPS (1,051 clicks in 10 seconds). This was confirmed by RecordSetter.
Does CPS matter in Minecraft PvP?
Kind of. Minecraft only registers like 2 to 4 hits per second anyway. But clicking faster helps you land combos and control knockback better. Most PvP players shoot for 8+ CPS.
How can I click faster?
Click around every day for a bit. Grab a mouse with lighter buttons. You can also look up butterfly clicking or jitter clicking on youtube.
Is jitter clicking safe?
For short bursts yeah. But doing it nonstop will make your arm feel weird. Just take breaks if anything feels off.
Why is 5 seconds the default test time?
One second is random, you might get lucky or unlucky. Go too long and your hand gets tired. Five seconds hits the sweet spot where the score actually means something.
Can I use this on mobile?
Yeah it works. Just tap instead of click. Most people get somewhere between 5 and 9 taps per second on a phone.
Do auto clickers work on this test?
Sure but what is the point. You are not getting any faster by cheating. Plus game servers will ban you if they catch you using one.
