Windows 11 Pro is the business edition of Windows 11: everything in Home plus BitLocker encryption, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V, Windows Sandbox and Group Policy. Our Windows 11 Pro key is a genuine retail license for one PC that activates on Microsoft’s own servers, the same way a boxed copy would. You pay, the key lands in your inbox, and you activate in a couple of minutes. No box, no shipping, no account to create on our side.

Key takeaways

  • Genuine retail license for one PC, lifetime, no subscription.
  • Works as a clean install key and as a Home to Pro upgrade key.
  • 64-bit only: Windows 11 has no 32-bit version.
  • Retail means transferable: remove it from the old PC, activate it on the new one.
  • Emailed instantly after payment. Something went wrong? We’ll help you fix it.

What Is a Windows 11 Pro Product Key?

A Windows 11 Pro product key is a 25-character code (five blocks of five letters and numbers) that tells Microsoft’s activation servers you hold a license for Windows 11 Pro. Enter it in Settings or during setup, and Windows switches to Pro and shows “Windows is activated”. The key we sell is a retail license for one PC.

Buy Windows 11 Pro key here and you skip the retail markup and the delivery wait. We’ve been selling Microsoft licenses since 2020 and have delivered 30,000+ of them. Problems are rare. When one does show up, we sort it out with you directly.

Quick Specs at a Glance

It activates online in two or three minutes, receives every Microsoft security and feature update, and runs only on 64-bit hardware. HypestKey emails the key right after payment; you do not need an account.

Detail What you get

Devices 1 PC at a time; can move to a new PC after you remove it from the old one
Duration Lifetime, one-time purchase
Activation time Two or three minutes, online
Updates All Windows Update security and feature updates

What Shows Up in Your Inbox?

After payment you get one email with your 25-character Windows 11 Pro key, a link to download Windows 11 from Microsoft, and short activation instructions. Copy the key into Windows when it asks for one and you’re set. The same key is also shown on screen right after checkout.

Don’t see the email? Check spam or junk first. Nothing after 10 minutes? Write to support@hypestkey.com or open the live chat, and we’ll resend it. Real people answer those messages, not an autoresponder.

How Do I Activate a Windows 11 Pro Key?

To activate, open Settings, go to System, then Activation, click Change product key, type the 25-character key and select Next. Windows checks the key with Microsoft and shows “Windows is activated” within about 20 seconds. If you’re on Home, it upgrades to Pro in place and keeps your files and apps.

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Activation.
  3. Expand Change product key and click Change.
  4. Paste the key and click Next, then Activate.
  5. Wait for “Windows is activated”. On a Home to Pro upgrade, give it about 10 minutes and one restart.

Prefer the command line? Open Terminal (Admin) and run slmgr /ipk XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX, then slmgr /ato. To confirm the result, slmgr /dlv shows the edition and the RETAIL channel.

After activation, Microsoft records a digital license for this PC (and links it to your Microsoft account if you sign in with one). Getting an error code instead? Our guide to fixing Windows 11 activation errors covers the usual suspects.

Tip: Sign in with a Microsoft account before you activate. The digital license then follows your account, which makes reactivation after a hardware change much easier.

What Happens When You Reinstall Windows Later?

Reinstalling Windows 11 Pro on the same PC normally needs no key at all. Microsoft keeps a digital license tied to that hardware, so after a clean install the PC activates on its own once it reaches the internet. Choose the Pro edition during setup and skip the key prompt; activation follows automatically.

A motherboard swap is different. Windows then sees a “new” PC. Run the Activation troubleshooter in Settings > System > Activation and pick “I changed hardware on this device recently” (it needs the Microsoft account that was linked before), or enter your key again. Keep your key email either way. Because this is a retail key, moving it to a completely new computer is allowed too, as long as it’s no longer active on the old one.

Which Pro Features Are Worth Knowing About?

Windows 11 Pro adds features Home does not have: BitLocker drive encryption, Remote Desktop hosting, Hyper-V virtual machines, Windows Sandbox, Group Policy, domain and Microsoft Entra ID join, and Windows Update for Business controls. For security, remote work and testing software, these are the reasons people pay for Pro.

BitLocker is the big one. Full drive encryption, plus BitLocker To Go for USB sticks. Laptop stolen? Without your PIN or recovery key, the thief gets an unreadable drive.

Remote Desktop hosting is Pro only. Home can connect to other computers but won’t accept incoming connections. Microsoft says the remote PC must be running a Pro edition, so if you want to reach your office PC from home, that PC needs Pro.

Hyper-V runs full virtual machines. Spin up Linux without dual booting, keep an old Windows build for a legacy app, test software in isolation. It needs a CPU with SLAT, which any Windows 11 compatible processor has.

Windows Sandbox opens a disposable copy of Windows. Run a sketchy installer in there, close the window, and everything inside is gone. Microsoft lists it for Pro, Enterprise and Education; Home isn’t supported.

Group Policy (gpedit.msc) exposes hundreds of settings that Home hides. Update deferral comes with it: Pro lets you hold feature updates for a while and still receive security patches.

Windows 11 Home vs Pro: Do You Actually Need Pro?

Most home users are fine with Windows 11 Home: browsing, streaming, games and Office all run the same on both. Pro makes sense when you need drive encryption, Remote Desktop into the PC, virtual machines, or a work domain. Upgrading later costs about the same as buying Pro now.

Feature Windows 11 Home Windows 11 Pro
BitLocker and BitLocker To Go No (device encryption only on some PCs) Yes
Remote Desktop host No (client only) Yes
Hyper-V No Yes
Windows Sandbox No Yes
Group Policy editor No Yes
Domain / Entra ID join No Yes
Windows Update for Business No Yes
Gaming, Office, browsing Yes Yes

Work from home and need Remote Desktop? Pro. Encrypt your drive because you handle client data? Pro. Run VMs for development? Pro. None of that applies? Then a Windows 11 Home key does the job. The longer version is in our Windows 11 Home vs Pro comparison.

Already on Windows 10 Pro with compatible hardware? The upgrade to Windows 11 Pro is free through Windows Update, and your Pro license carries over.

Will Your PC Run Windows 11 Pro?

Windows 11 Pro needs a compatible 64-bit processor with 2 or more cores at 1 GHz or faster, 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, UEFI firmware with Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, and a DirectX 12 graphics card with a WDDM 2.0 driver. Microsoft’s PC Health Check app tells you in a minute whether your PC qualifies.

Component Minimum for Windows 11
Processor 1 GHz or faster, 2+ cores, compatible 64-bit CPU or SoC
RAM 4 GB
Storage 64 GB or larger
System firmware UEFI, Secure Boot capable
TPM Trusted Platform Module 2.0
Graphics DirectX 12 or later, WDDM 2.0 driver
Display 720p, larger than 9 inches diagonally, 8 bits per color channel
Internet and account Required during setup of Windows 11 Pro for personal use

In practice, that means roughly Intel 8th gen or AMD Ryzen 2000 and newer; Microsoft keeps the exact list of supported chips. Four gigabytes of RAM is tight; 8 or 16 GB feels much better. Storage-wise, 128 GB or more is the realistic floor once updates pile up.

TPM 2.0 trips people up most often. Many PCs have the chip but ship with it switched off. Look in the BIOS under Security for “Security Device”, “PTT” (Intel) or “fTPM” (AMD). Secure Boot usually lives in the same menu. Below the requirements, Windows 11 won’t install normally, and workarounds leave you without a guarantee of future updates. More detail is in our Windows 11 requirements guide.

Which Upgrade Path Fits Your PC?

From Windows 10 Pro, the upgrade to Windows 11 Pro is free through Windows Update. From Windows 11 Home, enter the Pro key in Settings and the PC converts in place, files untouched. From Windows 10 Home, either upgrade to 11 Home first and then add the Pro key, or clean install Windows 11 Pro from USB.

  • Windows 10 Pro: Settings > Windows Update, install Windows 11. Your Pro license moves over on its own.
  • Windows 11 Home: Settings > System > Activation > Change product key, enter the code. About 10 minutes and a restart later, Pro features are there.
  • Windows 10 Home: upgrade to Windows 11 Home for free, then use the Pro key as above. Or do a fresh Windows 11 Pro install from USB and enter the key during setup. A fresh install wipes the drive, so copy your files somewhere first.

Still on Windows 10? Its support ended on October 14, 2025, so moving to Windows 11 is overdue for most PCs. The current Windows 11 Home and Pro releases are 25H2 and 26H2.

Delivery, Support and What If Something Goes Wrong

Your Windows 11 Pro key is emailed instantly after payment, and you don’t need an account with us to receive it. If the key does not activate, contact support@hypestkey.com or the live chat with your order number and a screenshot of the error. Something went wrong? We’ll help you fix it or send a replacement key.

Need three computers covered at the same time? Buy three keys: each one activates one PC. Updates keep coming as long as Microsoft supports your Windows 11 version, wherever the key was bought.

Why Buy Your Windows 11 Pro Key Here?

HypestKey is a trusted reseller with genuine keys, selling Microsoft licenses since 2020 with 30,000+ delivered. Keys go out automatically after payment, support people know Windows licensing, card payments run through Stripe (cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay), and the price you see is the price you pay. No fees appear at checkout.

Plenty of sites sell Windows keys, and most look the same. So what’s different? Keys are sent by the system, not by someone checking an inbox. Support answers activation questions, not just “did you try restarting”. And you never type your card into a homemade form.

You can verify the result yourself. Settings, System, Activation: if it says “Windows is activated with a digital license”, Microsoft’s servers confirmed your key. That check happens on their end, not ours.

Is This Windows 11 Pro Key Legit?

Yes. The key is a genuine Windows 11 Pro retail license that activates through Microsoft’s activation servers, not through a KMS host or a script. Retail keys are meant for individual sale and individual activation on one PC, and they stay valid after reinstalls, updates and a move to new hardware.

Fair question, though. Lots of sketchy sellers are out there. Volume keys (KMS or MAK) belong to organizations and shouldn’t end up on a personal PC; activators that “fix” Windows with scripts aren’t licenses at all. A retail key avoids both problems. Want to check the channel? Run slmgr /dlv and look for “RETAIL channel” in the Description line.

Background: How Windows 11 Licensing Works

Microsoft sells Windows 11 Pro through three channels: retail keys for individual buyers, OEM licenses preinstalled on new PCs, and volume licensing for organizations. Retail licenses can move to another PC; OEM licenses stay with the device they first activated; volume licenses are activated through company KMS hosts or MAK keys.

When you activate, Microsoft creates a digital license for your hardware. Reinstall on the same PC later and the activation servers already know you’re covered.

Why are the Windows 11 requirements so strict? Microsoft wanted every PC to have TPM 2.0, Secure Boot and UEFI so that features like virtualization-based security and Windows Hello can run by default. Older hardware simply lacks those pieces.

FAQ

Can I upgrade Windows 11 Home to Pro with this key?

Yes. Open Settings > System > Activation, choose Change product key and enter the Pro key. Windows converts to Pro in place, usually in about 10 minutes with one restart, and keeps your files and apps.

Is a Windows 11 Pro key a lifetime license?

Yes. It is a one-time purchase with no subscription and no expiration date, and it keeps receiving updates for as long as Microsoft supports your Windows 11 version.

Can I move the license to a new PC?

Yes. This is a retail license, so you can transfer it: remove or deactivate Windows on the old PC, then enter the same key on the new one. It works on one PC at a time.

Do I need to reinstall Windows to activate Pro?

No. If Windows 11 is already installed, the key switches it to Pro in Settings. A clean install is only needed if you want a fresh system anyway.

Does the key work on a 32-bit PC?

No. Windows 11 is available only for 64-bit processors. Your PC also needs TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot; the free PC Health Check app from Microsoft confirms it.

How fast will I get my Windows 11 Pro key?

The key is emailed instantly after payment and shown on screen after checkout. In rare cases a fraud check can delay it. Nothing after 10 minutes? Check spam, then contact us and we'll resend it.

What if the key doesn't activate?

We will help you fix it. Email support@hypestkey.com or use the live chat with your order number and a screenshot of the message you see. We'll get activation working or send a replacement key.
